Instagram has a new look, but its users don’t seem to like it.
The photo social media platform got rid of its iconic camera logo and replaced it with a minimalistic design that slightly resembles a camera. The colors are also different. It’s now a combination of purple, pink, orange and yellow hues.
What changes on the outside, must change on the inside, right? Instagram also changed the colors of the timeline to black and white—it used to be blue and white.
Like most change, people online were not receptive to it. Instagram users quickly began trashing the logo and making jokes.
This is the first time in five years the app gets a major redesign. Instagram — which is owned by Facebook — said the UI color change is to help users focus primarily on the photos being shared.
All of the Instagram suite apps also got a makeover: Boomerang, Hyperlapse and Layout. The other apps have a much simpler design, but consist of the same colors against a white background.
